The Non-Partner Transcoding Trap
Non-partnered streamers do not have guaranteed quality transcoding (1080p, 720p, 480p choices). If you stream at 8,000 kbps, viewers on phones or spotty Wi-Fi cannot choose a lower quality and will buffer constantly. 6,000 kbps is the sweet spot for viewer accessibility.
OBS Settings Checklist
In OBS Settings > Output: Set Rate Control to CBR, Keyframe Interval to 2s, and CPU/Encoder Preset to Quality. Never use VBR or CQP for live streaming to Twitch.
